Expecting a baby?

Let’s get off to a good start!

When planning a wedding or event would you ever say “I will just use the photographer or baker they have there”?

Why do that when choosing feeding support?

Ask family & friends, read reviews, call and ask about service.  Getting a sense of who will be providing such an important service!

But I'm taking a breastfeeding class!

Taking a breastfeeding class IS important, but they aren’t tailored to what YOU want or envision.

A prenatal visit will cover the important information provided in a class, but also tailor that info into a feeding plan that is specific to you!

It will also give you access to me before, during, and after you deliver to help guide you in those early days to get you off to a good start!

Prefer to text? That works too! Text me (Katie) here: 815.893.0411

Maternal Milk Supply Support

Pump Rental / Galactagogues

Sometimes a personal electric pump may not be ideal to support or initiate a good/adequate milk supply.

We are proud to be a rental depot for Medela Symphony Breast pump.

Weekly rate $30
Monthly rate $75

*Rental Rate does not include personal pumping kit available for purchase.

Even though the best way to initiate and maintain a good supply is through frequent and efficient emptying of breasts, some moms find using galactagogues helpful. We also offer GoLacta  & Legendairy products for purchase.

All donors must be screened by Mothers Milk Bank of Western Great Lakes. Once the screening process is complete and you are issued a donor number, you can drop off your milk at our office.

Who I Am

Hi, I’m Katie Olson, RN, IBCLC, PMH-C and proud owner of MomMe Wellness.

Katie Olson, IBCLC and Family - MomMe Wellness - Lactation Consultant - Crystal Lake, Illinois

So many things led me here.

I started as an RN 35 years ago, always working in L&D and mother/baby units.

I attended so many births and assisted so many moms, I was pretty confident that I knew what being a mother would look like and feel like. I didn’t. After the birth of my 1st son, I felt broken…emotionally and physically.

I struggled with breastfeeding (dreading each feeding for the pain I felt), sleeping, or soothing my fussy baby. It made me doubt everything I was doing and everything I thought I knew! I went from being a confident nurse to a mom who thought her baby deserved someone better.

It scared me. It changed me.

I would have 2 more baby boys and I gained more confidence with each one. I went back to work with more compassion & determination to make sure moms in my care heard what I needed to hear. I became an IBCLC in 2003, to ensure moms had correct information & skilled help, as opposed to personal opinions & experiences.

I believe you are ALL your baby needs, but I remind you of your needs and that you are worthy of being cared for. I support you, where you are in your journey, so that you can care for your baby with confidence! I want you to lay down at night and look back on the day and feel good about everything you did. Whatever that may be..breast, pumping/ bottle or both!

I work with you to find the best plan to reach your goals, not mine. Once you are an established client, you will have access to me through a secure (HIPAA compliant) messaging app. You will not have to wait until our next visit to ask me questions or tell me that something isn’t working as we hoped. You can also share your successes with me, too!

I am an advocate for maternal mental health. I am dedicated to increasing awareness and access to resources for families experiencing Perinatal Mood and Anxiety Disorders (PMAD’s). This is a topic I mention often.. It should never be associated with fear or shame.

MomMe Wellness started as a “what if” daydream while walking the halls of my last position as a hospital-based IBCLC. My personal frustrations with the care I was able to provide made me leave and want to do more.

My boys are adults now and succeeding in life ( in spite of me, lol) I have a teacher, graphic artist and my youngest is a journalism major in college. They are my everything, just as your baby is yours!

My private practice was created with the care & support of what new moms may need & deserve in mind! I left a secure, paid position to create this private practice. It is not just a business. It is my passion and my honor to join you on your journey! My  hope is that you feel that in my care, if you choose me Expert IBCLC Lactation Consultant, Support Groups, and Breastfeeding Resources - Crystal Lake, IL 1

What is PMH-C?

In an effort to help families seeking quality care & support with Perinatal Mood and Anxiety Disorders (PMAD’s), Postpartum Support International identified the need for a credential/certification. This credential helps families identify providers that have actual training, experience and a commitment in their care of families experiencing a PMAD.
